[size=12.800000190734863px]The Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway invites applicants for a PhD research fellowship in the field of reservoir engineering and enhanced oil recovery methods. The PhD position is awarded for a total of 3 years with a possibility for extending the period for one year as teaching assistant for NTNU.
The PhD project will develop competence and technology within in-depth gel placement for water diversion. New hybrid nanogel systems will be developed based on "green" technology. The gel systems will be based on novel multifunctional hybrid polymers developed at SINTEF Materials and Chemistry and polyelectrolyte complexes developed at Kansas University. Testing infrastructures at NTNU IPT, NTNU NanoLab and SINTEF Petroleum Research will be used in the experimental work. The work will be carried out in close cooperation with the industrial partners. The project is financed by the Research Council of Norway and the industrial partners.
Applicants with background within chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, chemistry (colloid chemistry in particular) or physics are preferred. Experience in experimental and/or modelling work is an advantage.

Conditions of appointment:
PhD Candidates are remunerated in code 1017, and are normally remunerated at wage level 50, gross NOK 420 800 before tax. There will be a 2 % deduction to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross wage.
Engagement as a PhD Candidate is done in accordance with “Regulation concerning terms and conditions of employment for the posts of post-doctoral research fellow, research fellow, research assistant and resident”, given by the Ministry of Education and Research of 19.07.2010. The goal of each of the announced positions is to obtain a PhD degree. Applicants will engage in an organized PhD training program, and appointment requires approval of the applicants plan for a PhD study within three months from the date of commencement.
