The president of University of Wyoming has announced the split of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department. This will occur in the near future. Most of the faculty members in this department have Chinese graduate students, and most of them are from China University of Petroleum.

Faculty with research interests in petroleum engineering:

1. Dr. Vladimir Alvarado
Research interests: EOR (chemical flooding) and CO2 sequestration (modeling and experiments), etc.
He is recently promoted as the associate head of the department. Dr. Alvarado has a big research group. Several graduate students from China are in his group.

2. Dr. Lamia Goual
Research interests: interfacial phenomenon, asphaltene deposition, etc.
Dr. Goual studies the asphaltene phase behavior using advanced statistical thermodynamic model, and molecular dynamics simulation.

3. Dr. Mohammad Piri
Research interests: CO2 sequestration, fluid flow in porous media, pore scale modeling, advanced computing using GPU …
Dr. Piri also has a big research group with wide research interests. He is a professor at SER. He currently has a graduate student from China.

4. Brian Francis Towler
Research interests: reservoir simulation and EOR. He currently has a graduate student from China.
