The composition of this thesis is to develop well performance prediction
techniques to allow optimization of well design. This compilation highlights past
development with type curves applying this along with new techniques in order to
analyze a solution gas drive field that has not previously been discussed. With the
high interest in shale plays and the vast majority of completions being multistage
horizontal hydraulic fracture treatments, the need to identify economics and
completion methods becomes of high interest to operators. Finding the balance
between optimum stage completion, improved productivity, and reservoir recovery
becomes essential along with understanding the mechanisms of the reservoir. This
thesis provides the solution to identifying key parameters, and a methodology for
designing stage completions utilizing deterministic methods for reservoir
characterization.
