题目: Determination of Gas Reservoir Characteristics in the Eastern Devonian Shale by Pressure Transient Testing

摘要
Gas reservoir characteristics in the eastern Devonian shales of Jackson County, West Virginia are evaluated using type curves for dual-porosity systems developed by Bourdet and Gringarten (1980) and Da Prat, Cinco-Ley and Ramey (1980).
Results are presented for two pressure buildup tests of 70 t o 80 day duration on producing gas wells in the Devonian shale and a nine-day drawdown test on a new shale well. The drawdown test proved to be too short to yield useful results . The buildup test results are analyzed using Horner plots and type-curve matches, assuming dual-porosity behavior. Although the tests were of insufficient duration to conclusively prove the existence of the anticipated fissure-matrix geometry; the analysis , assuming fissuring, provides values for the parameters: fissure permeability-thickness, kh , fissure porosity, f, wellbore storage, C, skin factors, and estimates
of interporosity flow coefficient, A , and fissure storativity ratio, w.
The results for the two wells are compared, with the conclusion that one reservoir appears to be far more extensively fissured than the other. An attempt is made to use the derived dual-porosity parameters in conjunction with the production history for one of the wells to analyze production decline. This effort is hampered by an unsmooth production rate history and yields ambiguous results.
As a viable technique for the producing gas company to better understand the Devonian shales, pressure transient testing is shown to be vaulable for test- times of two or three months. Important reservoir parameters can be derived from such tests. The link between these results and conclusions regarding remaining reserves and effective drainage areas certainly warrants further investigation.
