Job DescriptionSubsurface Global is currently recruiting for a Senior Geologist (Contractor) for an E&P operator in Aberdeen.
This would be a 12 month PAYE contract in the Development Subsurface team. Start date ASAP.

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Development and abandonment geologist working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for all aspects of geological input into remaining opportunities within ultra-late life assets with significant focus on preparation of abandonment documentation and supporting well abandonment planning.
Development aspects of the role will focus on a gas blow down project providing technical expertise and recommendations as part of non-op technical team as well as providing full development geology support to an operated asset team.
At the senior level, the job holder will be expected to work on their own initiative and will be involved in technically challenging projects which require the application of technical expertise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and HSEQ procedures
- Responsible for all aspects of geological work within an integrated subsurface framework. Tasks may include:
- Well log analysis and correlations.
- Geological interpretation and seismic mapping
- Structural and stratigraphic seismic interpretation through collaboration with in house experts
- Construction of structural framework models.
- Reservoir characterisation and geological modelling.
- Volumetric assessment.
- Risking and resource uncertainty modelling, participating in technical QAs.
- Well planning and operational support – development and abandonment
- Post well analysis – development and abandonment
- Monitoring and assisting with specialists and contractors to manage geological analysis projects.
- Geological aspects of internal/external business approvals (Internal/Partners/OGA etc.).
- Sharing knowledge and subsurface collaboration.
- Strong presentation and communication skills to effectively update management and key stakeholders
- Works closely with other subsurface team members on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Participates in peer reviews and contributes to management and joint venture partner meetings

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
Essential
- BSc in Geological Sciences
- Experience in an operating company
Preferred
- Further degree in above field e.g. MSc
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

- Previous experience in a similar role
- Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
- A strong understanding of geoscience concepts, to include structural, facies and sequence stratigraphic analysis
- Expert in static reservoir modelling techniques and software in particular Petrel – Modelling of injectite fields requires good understanding and efficient construction of sometimes complex structural models.
- Strong understanding of key geological uncertainties and quantification of these
- Expert in deterministic and probabilistic volumetric calculations
- Broad experience gained in a variety of depositional settings and basins
- Knowledge of reservoir flow dynamics and impact of geological
- Experience of field appraisal and development planning
- Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives, etc.

- Experience of working in an Operator environment with OGA interaction experience
- Eocene level injectite experience
- Field abandonment requirements and regulatory documentation requirements
- Geomechanics appreciation advantageous.
