OverviewA global integrated Geoscience Services Company seeks a Geomechanics Specialist. In this exciting new role, you will be the expert for “reservoir geomechanics”, undertaking consultancy services and working with Sales/Business Development Teams to help raise awareness and further develop service and product offerings. Applicants are invited with solid experience in reservoir characterization and 1D and 3D geomechanical modelling. Preference for 4D modelling incorporating seismic. This is a multifaceted role and would best suit an entrepreneurial individual who is passionate about geomechanics and has a desire to raise its profile across exploration and production. Working in the “Reservoir Services Group” as their “Geomechanical Expert”, you will provide leadership, guidance and support to team players, raising their understanding of the topic, its value and integration into exploration and production workflows.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the head of the Reservoir Services Group”, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Technical Execution of Projects
- Become the expert for reservoir geomechanics and related activities within the group.
- Be responsible for all geomechanical analysis and project work, which mostly includes generation of 1D and 3D geomechanical models.
- Be responsible for all geomechanical analysis and project work, which mostly includes generation of 3D & 4D geomechanical models and integration with seismic data.
- Strive to ensure productions deadlines, project objectives, technical specifications, quality control requirements and optimisation and validation of the workflow.
- Working closely with peers across the group - integrate results into multi-discipline projects, develop/optimise workflows.
- Present technical results to clients - communicate project progression to all stakeholders.
- Project Management
- Take responsibility for managing projects – in a timely and professional manner and achieving all KPI’s. Ensure resources are available as required.
- With input from the client and direct supervisor, plan the various validation, production and QC phases in keeping with the agreed project parameters.
- Commercial - Supporting Sales/Business Development/Marketing
- Work closely with Sales & Marketing to define the scope of services, ensuring that financial targets are met.
- Promote the use of optional processes and new technologies that will deliver the best technical results for the client.
- Visit with clients, to discuss project requirements, conduct interim project meetings, and to present results.
- Be proactive in raising awareness of how geomechanics can be utilised within the E&P workflows, the challenges that it can address and the technical and financial benefits that can be achieved.
- Present at technical conferences and forums.
- Technical Excellence
- Keep abreast of activities relating to geomechanics in the market – challenges, drivers, trends in terms of workflows, new technologies emerging, competitors (products and services), pricing…
- Strive to raise your awareness and understanding of geomechanics research and academic thinking!
- Proactively share your findings across the Company – raise the understanding of the topic across management, operational and technical peers.

Preferences
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in an Earth Science subject essential. MSc or PhD desired.
- A minimum of 5 years work experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with some in a senior level Geomechanic role essential.
- Extensive experience in reservoir characterization, 1D and 3D geomechanical modelling essential.
- Some experience in 4D modelling with the integration of seismic highly desired.
- Passionate about geomechanics – a desire to educate, to raise the topics profile, to integrate into the E&P workflow – to gain traction for new related products and services.
- Recognised in the industry as a Subject Matter Expert highly desired.
- Experience in working as a part of integrated teams – The ability to integrate your geomechanics results/findings into the E&P workflow is key!
- Experience in delivering consultancy services highly advantageous
- Strong project management – ability to work with clients to define/agree requirements; to manage quality and control of project; and to deliver results that meet all KPI’s (technical, financial, and client satisfaction).
- Familiar with Geoscience industry standard software essential
- Excellent problem solving skills - ability to identify problems and articulate solutions is key!
- Experience of finite element modelling and programming desired.
- Excellent stakeholder appreciation.
- Strong communication skills – ability to discuss/relay high level technical content in a simple and coherent manner; to gain trust; and champion the benefits to clients.
- Previous experience of writing papers for journals, conference, technical forums highly desired.
- Excellent presentation skills – ability to engage, retain interest and inspire the required result from an audience.
- Entrepreneurial – can see and promote the bigger picture! Can identify new opportunities within the geomechanics discipline and help sales/bdm’s and marketing to drive revenue and market growth.
- Confident, diplomatic and assertive – ability to provide technical leadership and achieve desired results effectively and efficiently.
- Problem solving skills and ability to identify problems and articulate solutions.
- Familiar with Geoscience industry standard software and with finite element modelling and programming.
- Able to travel to meet with clients, attend industry events, and meet with peers in global offices as required.
